Peony Hill ("Peony Hill," "we" or "us") operates peonyhillva.com. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website, contact us or book a stay, and how we use it.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you send an inquiry, we collect your name, email address, phone number if you share it, the kind of stay you're asking about, your dates and your message. When you join our newsletter, we collect your email address. When you email or call us, we keep that correspondence.
When you book. Reservations are made on our booking site, book.peonyhillva.com, which is run by our reservation provider, Hostaway. Booking and payment details you enter there are handled under that site's privacy policy. We receive the details we need to host your stay, such as guest names, contact details, dates and the number of guests.
Collected automatically. Our website is hosted by Squarespace, which collects standard technical information such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and the site that referred you. It uses cookies to keep the site working and to give us visitor statistics.
Other services on our pages. Some pages show Google Maps and use fonts from Google, and we link to our social media pages. Donations to Friesian Legacy Rescue are made through PayPal. Each of these companies handles information under its own privacy policy.
How we use your information
To answer your questions and plan your stay
To arrange optional additions you ask for, such as a private chef or a massage
To send our newsletter, if you subscribed. Every email includes a link to unsubscribe.
To improve our website
To keep records required for tax, accounting and legal purposes
To protect the property, our guests and our horses

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
With service providers that help us run Peony Hill, such as website hosting, reservations, payments and email
With professionals you ask us to arrange, such as a chef or photographer, limited to what they need (for example, your dates and group size)
When the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of our guests, our property or others
Friesian Legacy Rescue is a separate 501(c)(3) nonprofit. If you donate, the rescue uses your name and contact details to thank you and send a receipt for your records.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies that it needs to work and cookies that tell us how visitors use the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes above, including reservation records we must keep for tax and accounting. We keep your newsletter email address until you unsubscribe.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information. No website or email system is completely secure, so please don't send payment card details by email.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to stop emailing you, by writing to hello@peonyhillva.com. Depending on where you live, your state's privacy law may give you additional rights; we will respond as that law requires.
Children
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
